Vineland's Administrators

Ms. MaryAnn MacLaren, Principal

Dear Visitor,

Thank you for your interest in Vineland K-8 Center.  Vineland has a long tradition of academic excellence.  We have been awarded an A+ rating by the state of  Florida for eight consecutive years and have achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the past two years.

Vineland K-8 Center is dedicated to serving all children, and to that end, we offer Special Student Education (SPED) classes, as well as courses for Gifted students.  In addition, we address students’ social/ emotional needs as well as their academic needs.  Our student services staff assists parents and students with a variety of issues that include academic areas as well as emotional needs.

Our extra curricular activities include an after school chess program, a strings program, student council, Future Florida Educators of America (FFEA), and  an after school sports program offered through Dade Sports.

Vineland K-8 Center has a very active Parent/Teacher Association (PTA).  Parents participate in many volunteer opportunities, as well as classes offered by our staff to help parents become better informed about school life and student needs.  This may include technology courses, homework assistance, FCAT information, etc.  If you are a new parent, I encourage you to get involved with the PTA and become an active member of our school community.

I hope you select Vineland K-8 Center as your child’s school, and I look forward to meeting you at one of our many school activities.

Sincerely,

MaryAnn MacLaren

Ms. Lynn Zaldua, Assistant Principal

Ms. Lynn Zaldua graduated from Florida International University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Soon after, she received a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education.  Ms. Zaldua worked at Coral Way Elementary as a first grade teacher, as well as a teacher of the gifted.  In 1999, she instructed first through fifth grade students at Bent Tree Elementary.  While at Bent Tree Elementary, Ms. Zaldua served in various positions of leadership, which allowed her to explore the field of educational leadership. This led her to pursue a degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

During the 2002-2003 school year, Ms. Zaldua worked with the students and faculty of Dr. William Chapman Elementary as their interim Assistant Principal.  Shortly thereafter, she became the Assistant Principal at Joe Hall Elementary, where she worked for four years.

Ms. Zaldua feels very proud to be a part of the Vineland K-8 Center family.  She insists that the faculty and staff at our school is of the highest class and professional standards.  She is also the proud mother of two Vineland students.
